Whoa! Avengers: Age of Ultron opened with a bang last weekend.

Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures released the blockbuster in North America following its international debut last week. The latest in the Avengers series dominated the US box office last weekend grossing a whopping  $191.3 million from 4,276 theaters in North America. This kind of success makes it the number 2 opening of all time behind The Avengers.

Age of Ultron has been successful with audiences around the world. Director Joss Whedon spans the globe for his story, including scenes set in Asia and Africa. That strategy surely helps grow the interest in overseas markets.

Ultron has grossed $439 million in foreign take, bringing its worldwide total to $626.7 million already — on just a $250 million production budget.  Want to know Ultron’s top performing foreign market opening? It’s South Korea, where part of the film takes place, and where it opened to nearly $30 million.

Together, the two Avengers films have now grossed more than $2 billion worldwide. The only two films to earn more than the first Avengers  film’s $1.5 billion earnings are both by James Cameron: Avatar and Titanic. Those are big numbers!

So tell us, have you seen the Age of Ultron? Did you like it?
