Drake Chooses Apple Over Jay Z. Reading and Vocabulary

Looks like Drake has officially ditched Jay Z. The rapper was supposed to be one of the original 16 artist “partners” of Tidal , Jay Z’s music-streaming service, until two days prior to the service’s March 30 launch when he bailed at the last minute.

Fast forward a few months to this week at the highly anticipated Apple ‘2015 WWDC (worldwide developers conference). The 28-year-old Toronto native appeared and plugged Apple’s new service, as well as fellow Toronto native The Weeknd, who performed his new single “I Can’t Feel My Face”.

According to Billboard.com, Drake spoke about how technology like Apple’s helped him rise to worldwide recognition from Canadian obscurity in just five years’ time. “As a kid growing up, I always wondered if my city or even my country would have somebody break into the global scene as a true superstar,” Drake said. “The dream of being an artist like myself and connecting directly with an audience has never been more close and reachable than right now.”

He then encouraged other developing artists to use Apple Connect as they develop their work, the same way he plans to as he puts the finishing touches on his next album Views From The 6,  later this year. “I’m really excited about what I’m working on,” he told the audience.

According to Billboard.com, Drake will contribute guest-curated playlists for Apple Music’s streaming radio service after it begins on June 30.

What do you think this means for his relationship with Jay Z? Do you plan to use Apple Music?
