Oh that Kim Kardashian, she never fails to shock us. In true Kim Kardashian fashion, she shook up the world and went blonde during Fashion Week in Paris. The reality star debuted slicked-back, platinum blonde locks, when she arrived at the Balmain show in Paris, abandoning her typical brunette hairdo  and sending the Internet into a tailspin.

She isn’t the only star to go lighter with the hair. Just three days after showing the world that he chopped his long locks, Jared Leto showed the world he had gone lighter with bright, white-blonde hair,  at the same exact event in Paris! The star cut and bleached his locks for his latest role in Suicide Squad.

Some common adjectives for hair color are:

blonde
platinum
light
lighter
bleached
white blonde
brunette
dark
darker
black
red

strawberry blonde

You can also talk about hair length this way:

  • I like it when he goes shorter.
  • She needs to go longer.

When someone changes a hair color we can use the verb “to go.”  Here are the some examples:

  • Present: I/you/we/they go
    • I am happy when I go red.
  • Present: he/she/it goes
    • I like her better when she goes shorter.
  • Future: will +  go
    • I think he will go dark again.
  • Simple Past: went
    • I went black for my birthday.
  • Present participle: going
    • I am going lighter for summer.

Now it’s your turn to practice. Choose the best form of the verb for each sentence. Good luck!

She looks younger since she __________shorter.
My brother __________ shorter with his beard this summer.
Next year I __________ darker.
