Justin Bieber closed out the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival, his first concert appearance in two years, in front of screaming fans at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater.
“Do you want to hear some new music?” shouted Bieber, who performed his new single with Skrillex, “Where Are Ü Now.”
The second day of the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater Sunday was way bigger than the first, record-breaking day, though it did show some growing pains.
More than 23,000 fans attended Sunday, giving the inaugural festival attendance of more than 40,000 for the weekend. This was another record for Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. The lines for everything at the music festival seemed much longer Sunday. The two-day extravaganza involved three stages and a 10-hour lineup of acts.
The day before on Saturday, more than 17,000 showed up to see 10 hours of music on three stages, including the current king of the Billboard Hot 100 charts, The Weeknd. The R&B singer played his current No. 1 “Can’t Feel My Face,” and also surprised the crowd with a rocking version of Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love.”
The festival went so well that John Amato, president of the music industry trade magazines Billboard and the Hollywood Reporter, said he expected it to return next year.
