The Huffington Post reports that Vin Diesel has confirmed Furious 8 will be released on April 14, 2017. Diesel made the announcement at Universal’s CinemaCon at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas last week.

Diesel reminded the theater owners who had gathered there that it was two years prior when he and the late Walker both announced the release of “Furious 7” on the same stage. “We were giddy and excited,” said Diesel. “You all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love.”

Now, choking back tears, Diesel said, “It means a lot to me to get your blessing.”

It’s no surprise the next installment is in the works. The seventh entry in the franchise has already broken box office records worldwide, so far earning more than $1.1 billion globally.

Diesel did not reveal details about the new movie. He also did not confirm whether co-stars Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Kurt Russel will return for the sequel.
