The infamous rapper made headlines Sunday when he tweeted about being “53 million dollars in personal debt.” This was a shocking announcement, even for him, because…well…you’d just assume that his finances are fine. Just look at his lifestyle! The strange behavior continued when West asked Facebook billionaire Mark Zuckerberg for “help.”
“He isn’t actually in $53 million in debt,” a source close to Kanye and wife Kim Kardashian tells E! News. “That’s the money he’s spent over the past 13 years on fashion, his films and music videos. It’s not debt per se. He always invests in himself and that’s where that number came from.” So apparently Kanye just needs a reminder of what “personal debt” means before he throws around such a term next time. Zuckerberg didn’t reach out to West in response to his plea, at least not publicly.
Still, one Minneapolis fan decided to make waves anyway, launching a GoFundMe campaign in support of the Life of Pablo artist.
“Kanye West, prolific entertainer/fashion icon/celebrity/member of the Kardashian family needs our help!” Jeremy Piatt declared in the page description.
As of Wednesday at 10:40 a.m. ET. Their donations have brought the total to a staggering $439, Only in America.
