It’s official. Oprah and Common are set to appear on the hit TV show Empire.
Lee Daniels said he hoped to recruit Oprah Winfrey, whom he directed in 2013’s The Butler, to play a role on the show. And now the director has revealed the big news. “Yes. She’s gonna be on it,” Daniels told Access Hollywood.
According to Daniels, Winfrey will make a guest appearance on the show in Season 2. Daniels also said Common, who appeared alongside Oprah in the Oscar-nominated film Selma, would have a guest spot as well.
“Common, you heard that first,” he said to the camera.
The director is looking forward to filming with both Oprah and Common. “Oh yeah, for sure. For absolutely sure. We’re gonna have a good time. You heard that first,” Daniels said.
There’s no word on the roles Winfrey or Common might play, but if the guest-star-filled first season is any indication, everyone will be clamoring for a spot next season.
