According to the Daily Mail, Selena Gomez was in tears at her Saturday night concert in Miami as she dedicated a song to Christina Grimmie, who had been shot to death the previous night in Orlando.
Selena had been friends with Christina for 7 years, since Christina was signed to a recording contract by Selena’s stepfather.
Selena, who canceled a meet-and-greet with fans following the incident in Orlando, spoke about Christina’s faith and dedicated the song “Transfiguration,” by Hillsong Worship to her friend. E! News reported that other acts paying tribute to Grimmie included Fifth Harmony, Charlie Puth, Rachel Platten, Twenty One Pilots and Pentatonix.
Meanwhile, a vigil is set for Grimmie in her hometown for Monday night.
Gomez Tweeted this after the news:
My heart is absolutely broken. I miss you Christina
