In the great words of Lenny Kravitz, “We got to let love rule.” In honor of the day of love, Valentine’s Day, let’s talk about love. The verbs below are used to show affection or attraction you feel towards someone else.
There are so many ways to describe these feelings. Let’s start with a crush. When you have a crush on someone that person can make you nervous. You can’t wait to see them. You get tongue tied. You think about them all the time. You check their Facebook constantly. You stalk their Instagram photos. In other words, you like them…a lot! They are always in your thoughts.
What verbs can we use for this?
To like
To dig
To have a crush on
To long for
To be smitten
To have the hots for
To be crazy about
To be sprung
But what if you both like each other? You hang out. You are in a relationship on Facebook. You might be engaged. Maybe you will tie the knot!
You can use these verbs if the feeling is mutual.
To be together
To date
To hook up
To see
To be girlfriend and boyfriend
To put a ring on it
To marry
To get hitched
So what about very strong feelings for someone? Sometimes they don’t feel the same way you do. Maybe they don’t know you exist. Maybe you like them from afar. Or maybe you like them so much you can’t live your normal life.
These verbs can describe that feeling.
To worship
To obsess over/about
To be infatuated
To be whipped
So now that we know how to talk about love let’s practice! Good luck!
