Will Smith may soon be back in the television business, Entertainment Weekly has learned. The actor’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment, is developing a new family comedy. Despite earlier reports it will be based on Smith’s The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air for modern audiences, the project will only share some basic similarities to the classic NBC series in that it could be a fish-out-of-water story. As of now, there is no script or network attached to the potential show. It definitely sounds like the early stages.
Next year marks 20 years since Fresh Prince left the airwaves, but Smith has not forgotten his star-making role. The 46-year-old has frequently performed the show’s iconic theme song for audiences. Did you watch Fresh Prince? Would you like to see more of Will Smith on TV?
