Oscars 2015. The Biggest Night for Movies!

The biggest night for the movie industry has come and gone again. The 2015 Oscars, aka Academy Awards, aka the biggest red carpet night IN THE WORLD took place in Los Angeles last night. Here are some of the highlights from the evening:

Neil Patrick Harris hosted the event.  During the show he stumbled over several names and came on to the stage in his underwear for a short time. He managed to keep the mood fun and surprising.

Newly engaged Gaga took the stage at L.A.’s Dolby Theatre and sang an incredible medley of songs from The Sound of Music, including “Edelweiss” and “My Favorite Things.” Even Julie Andrews — who played Maria in the 1965 movie musical — was impressed with her performance! Bravo!

Best Original Song winners John Legend and Common sang a moving rendition of “Glory” from the Selma soundtrack. By the end of their performance, everyone was on their feet, and many of the stars were in tears.

Also in music, Tegan and Sara and The Lonely Island gave an upbeat performance of “Everything Is Awesome”.

The big winners this year were:

Supporting Actor: J.K. Simmons in Whiplash

Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette – Boyhood

Best Original Screenplay: Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Written by Alejandro G. Inarritu, Nicolas Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, Jr. & Armando Bo
